During week 26, I had the pleasure of having my glucose test done. Being a first-time mom, I had no idea what to expect so I turned to others for a little inside scoop. The most common response I got was, “OMG the drink is so gross…good luck!” Either I’m a sugar addict or just weird, but I didn’t think the drink was that bad. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t want to drink another 10 ounces of it, but it was definitely doable. I placed my orange drink in the fridge the night before and when it came time to suck it down in 5 minutes, I had no problem. I thought it tasted like flat orange soda. The worst part of the whole test was not being able to have water for an hour. I was so parched from all the sugar and couldn’t wait to have an entire bottle of water afterwards. THEN came the sugar crash and headache….
Either way, the test results came back the next day and everything was perfect! Our McBaby check-up went well too. We got to hear his heart beat and simply just checked-in with our Midwife. It feels good to keep hitting these pregnancy milestones and know that our son will be coming very, very soon.
What fruit/vegetable are you? Head of Lettuce
Due date: May 20, 2016
How far along: 26 Weeks
Next appointment: March 2nd- I can’t believe my appointments are going to start being every 2-3 weeks now.
Total weight gain/loss: I faced the scale this week and I wasn’t too pleased with what the number said. I’ve gained 25lbs since the start of my pregnancy, I was in complete shock. I constantly keep trying to remind myself that I am doing the best I can, I eat healthy and exercise when I can. The weight will come off once McBaby is here, I know it will.
Exercise: I find myself not working out as much as I did in the beginning, but Boot Camp two times a week combined toning and light cardio here and there has been perfect. I’m starting to realize that the quality of my workouts is better than how many I accomplish in a week. It’s all about being safe and effective!
Stretch marks: Nothing new in that department.
Swelling: None – the rings still fit!!
Maternity clothes: I bought my first pair of maternity workout pants from Motherhood and I like them. I say ‘like’ because the material doesn’t feel as thick as my Lululemons that I’m use to, BUT they are very comfortable and keep my baby bump cozy during gym-time!
Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases or Gifts: We started stocking up on diapers this week, we have about 3 more months to get a nice stock pile going! And obviously, I bought more baby clothes this week….and organized all them.
Sleep: I jinxed myself…sleeping has been a little rough this week. I can’t pinpoint where the problem is. I’m not uncomfortable so I don’t know why I’m having a hard time staying asleep. I think the excitement of McBaby is starting to get the best of me!
Food cravings: Well….this week we went to Trivia Night and I finally gave into my #1 Pregnancy Craving since the beginning… DOMINO’S PIZZA! I don’t know if it was because I ate it right after an intense Boot Camp session or if Domino’s Pizza is THAT good, but it was worth every single bite.
Food aversions: I made my typical grilled chicken + roasted broccoli dinner the other night and I couldn’t stomach the texture of the grilled chicken. I had no problem polishing off half of the broccoli and some potato skins though.
Symptoms: Round ligament pains, I can finally feel my stomach stretching. There’s definitely a baby in there!
How is dad doing? Dad is doing well – he is excited for McBaby’s arrival in 3 months and hopes he can avoid the daddy worries from setting in.
What I’m looking forward to: Our FIRST Family Summer Vacation – we booked a lake house for a week this Summer in Maine and we are beyond excited to get away from it all and live the Lake Life. One of our life goals is to hopefully own a lake house some day, so I hope this vacation can give us that extra motivation to really start saving! I can’t picture anything more perfect than sitting by the fire with my husband, my son, and my puppy with a nice cold beer enjoying the sound of the lake at night. HURRY UP AUGUST!
Missing anything this week? I feel complete and content this week – Life is good!
Best moment this week: Every time I get to hear his heart beat and feel his kicks, it seems like its the best day ever. Knowing he’s in there growing and loving life, makes me one happy mama!
Next week will be my last Second Trimester update…I can’t even believe it. Time is starting to fly by!! May 2016 will be here before we know it.
XO,
Angela
