Don’t worry, I didn’t give birth just yet!! Our lives has been very busy lately between baby classes, our baby shower, my 30th birthday, and a 34 week prenatal checkup!

Baby Classes I totally recommend that any first-time parents take some kind of baby class. There was some things I already knew, but it was great to have a refresher, learn a few new things, and Tim even walked away feeling more prepared to take care of our little man! We completed Childbirth Preparedness (with a hospital tour – It was great to see the labor/delivery rooms), Breastfeeding, Infant CPR/First Aid, and Newborn Care. If you were to ask either one of us, we both would say that these classes were worth every penny. Our health insurance even covered some of the cost, so they are worth checking out.

Baby Shower – We are so beyond grateful for all of our family and friends who were able to make our baby shower special. They all spoiled our McBaby with some awesome baby gear that we can’t wait to use very soon!

Turning The Big 30 – Turning 30 really wasn’t that bad! I took the day off from work, organized the baby’s room, got a prenatal massage, went shopping, enjoyed my free birthday beverage from Starbucks, went to Boot Camp, and had ice cream for dinner. I really couldn’t have thought of a better way to spend my birthday until Tim surprised me with a bowling party! Since I couldn’t celebrate being 30 with a big glass of wine, it was great to do something fun with some pretty important people in my life.

Prenatal Checkup Appointment – I had my first little scare at my 34 week appointment…..my blood pressure was 140/68! I have never had high blood pressure in my whole entire life, so I freaked out completely. My midwife assured me that she wasn’t too worried about it and would check it again before I left. She chalked it up as I was just a little anxious for my appointment and proceeded to the fun part – listening to the baby’s heart beat. Once she placed the doppler on my stomach, I immediately noticed the heart beat sounded different than the other times I heard it – it sounded slow, but relaxed. Obviously my heart dropped and I thought that my blood pressure was causing the baby’s heart rate to drop….nope – he was just sleeping. A few taps on my belly and McBaby was moving around and his heart rate rose to 142 bpm. Before heading out, we checked my blood pressure one more time and it had dropped down to 128 in a matter of 5 minutes, so I was sent on my way with some things to look out for in case my blood pressure does become an issue. I took my blood pressure the next morning at home to make sure everything was back to normal and it was; 110/68.

Okay – now the fun stuff…..

What fruit/vegetable are you? Cantaloupe

Due date: May 20, 2016

How far along: 34 Weeks

Next appointment: April 25th.

Total weight gain/loss: My weight gain has almost come to a standstill since my last appointment two weeks ago; I only gained a few ounces. My belly is still growing, so there is no concern. I think finally my metabolism is back to where it should be!

Exercise: Still going to Boot Camp on Wednesday and Fridays, but other than that my exercise has slowed down slightly. After working a full day at the office, the last thing I can think of some days is working out. On top of making sure dinner is prepared, the house is picked up, and everything else in between – something HAS to give.

Stretch marks: Nothing new!

Swelling: None – rings still fit!

Maternity clothes: I’m turning into a cheapo when it comes to maternity clothes. I haven’t bought myself any new clothes in a few weeks. I just can’t justify buying more clothes right now. I have a feeling when the weather is a tad bit warmer, my attitude may change.

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases or Gifts: Since we had our baby shower during week 33, we got so much baby stuff!! Once we sort through everything and test it out, I will make a whole blog post dedicated to everything we received.

Sleep: What’s that? I’m officially uncomfortable and getting a straight 5 hours a night, I consider a miracle!

Food cravings: Ice water – I can’t get enough.

Food aversions: Because of the baby’s position, I find myself eating small (healthy) snacks throughout the day instead of wanting full meals. I think because of this eating habit I’ve created, some foods don’t seem appealing to me anymore.

Symptoms: I’ve been getting really bad rib pain if I sit for too long. All I want to do is walk or lay down!

How is dad doing?  Dad is starting to freak out a bit. Don’t worry – he has plenty of baby gear to put together to take his mind off of it!

What I’m looking forward to: Not having any plans this weekend! We have had jam packed weeks and weekends, that its going to be nice to do whatever the heck we want all weekend long!

Missing anything this week? My energy….some days I have nothing left to give.

Best moment this week: Turning 30 and having all my favorite people there to share it with!
