Even though I had a terrible work week and I unfortunately let it get the best of me a few times, week 23 was still amazing. One of the best things about pregnancy is that it puts a lot of things into perspective. Things you use to worry about aren’t even on your radar and things you never thought were important are now number one of your list. Each day I try to be my best self and I try to help others as much as I can – but its time that I really start taking care of myself and making myself happy!!
During week 23 the kicks and jabs began to be more powerful and I love that I can count on my little buddy to cheer me up throughout my work day. Tim and Bailey are even starting to feel them without being told – “that was a kick!!” Even though I want McBaby to continue cooking in my belly, I still can’t wait to meet him very soon!
Now, here is his week 23 update!
What fruit/vegetable are you? Grapefruit
Due date: May 20, 2016
How far along: 23 Weeks
Next appointment: February 16th – its glucose test time!
Total weight gain/loss: After last week’s reality check, I refused to step on that scale this week. I really don’t want to get myself discouraged about that number that shows up on the scale and I want to continue on focusing on being fit and healthy!
Exercise: Workouts were scarce this week – I just really didn’t have the energy and I’m okay with that. When my body says rest; we rest! I still managed my weekly boot camp classes, a few jogging sessions, and some yoga into my week.
Stretch marks: Nothing new in that department.
Swelling: None.
Maternity clothes: Nothing new, but I’m still trying to find some new workout gear….I’m in desperate need of workout bra!
Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases or Gifts: The biggest investment we made this week was signing up for a few baby preparation classes. I love that our health insurance offered us a 10% discount AND $40 credit towards baby classes offered by our local hospital. We signed up for Childbirth Preparation + Hospital Tour, Breastfeeding, CPR/First Aid, and Newborn Care. I was a little skeptical about the Breastfeeding class, but it was part of a bundle and I’m trying to keep an open mind.
Sleep: All I know is a few nights this week I got a solid 8 hours of sleep, so I can’t complain!
Food cravings: Just give me that Domino’s pizza!
Food aversions: My appetite was a little suppressed this week and I don’t know if its from the stressful work week or the lack of exercise – either way I’m doing my best to make sure I’m getting my proper nutrition every day.
Symptoms: My hips have been hurting – they are clearly doing their job and turn/widening to prepare for McBaby’s arrival. I see a prenatal massage in my near future!
How is dad doing? He is totally loving our nightly cuddle sessions to feel our little buddy moving around in my belly.
What I’m looking forward to: Prenatal Yoga! I found a local yoga studio that just started offering prenatal yoga and I’m hoping to check it out this weekend!
Missing anything this week? I was in a little bit of a funk Sunday afternoon and all I wanted to do was lace up my sneakers and hit the pavement. BUT it had snowed the night before and there was no clear path for me to run safely without running the risk of falling. I had to settle for a short little run on the treadmill, but it just wasn’t the same.
Best moment this week: After the crib being delivered, my belly growing, feeling more movement every day, and hearing McBaby’s heartbeat at our check-up this week; its finally setting in that this is real life. In four short months our lives are going to change drastically and I couldn’t be more excited!
I’m hoping that my work life gets better during week 24, but at least I will have my little McBaby to keep me going!!
Until next week!
