Now that week 20 has come and gone, I can’t help but be more and more excited that I’m finally going to be a mom. It has been a long road and I never thought we would finally see the day we would hit the halfway mark.

After a wonderful week off, it was tough to go back to work and settling back into my routine has been difficult. I’ve also had to start fielding unwanted comments about my “weight gain.” In all fairness, not everyone knows I’m pregnant, but I would have never thought in a million years that anyone would feel the need to comment on a woman’s body. I have worked so hard to build myself a healthy lifestyle and I started to take these comments personally. I’ve embraced all the changes my body has gone through over the past few months, I just wish that others would embrace the changes as well. Even if my weight gain wasn’t pregnancy related, I would have hoped I would have the support and guidance of others around me to lead me down the right path, not body shame me.

I will continue down my Fit Pregnancy Path and do my best to ignore the negative remarks around me. Each day I will tell myself;

Travel light,
Live light,

Be the light,
SPREAD THE LIGHT!

Now, lets get into that McBaby Update!

What fruit/vegetable are you? Banana

Due date: May 20, 2016

How far along: 20 Weeks

Next appointment: January 19th

Total weight gain/loss: Trying my hardest to stay away from the scale and really focus on my diet and exercise.

Exercise: A new 8 Week TONE IT UP Challenge started this week and I have successfully stuck to the schedule this entire week. I may sound like a broken record, but I love how K+K plan out the entire week and give me great ideas so I’m not stuck roaming around the gym wasting my own time. If anyone wants to join me for the challenge, sign up — It’s FREE!

A few times this week I even got myself onto the treadmill to run some intervals. One of the days I ran 30 minutes of intervals and I felt amazing afterwards! The things my body can accomplish, especially at 20 weeks pregnant, is remarkable. I’ve been focused for a while on distance training and forgot how much I really do love interval training.

Stretch marks: The same few culprits are still hanging out on my stomach.

Swelling: None.

Maternity clothes: Nothing new added, but this weekend I HAVE to go shopping. My work shirts are not fitting anymore and popping buttons isn’t a good office look.

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases or Gifts: My mom and dad bought us a Moses Basket and stand…I’m obsessed!

Sleep: My sleep has been terrible and its my fault. I’m such a sucker for the dog and I need to practice some tough love tonight so I can finally get a good nights sleep.

Food cravings: Carbs on top of carbs! I couldn’t get enough carbs this week and I don’t know if its because I have been running a lot more, but either way I know my body and baby needs it so I didn’t fight the urge.

Food aversions: Nope.

Symptoms: Leg cramps, luckily they don’t happen in the middle of the night. I only have them when I’m sitting on the couch.

How is dad doing? Dad is in Dad-Mode – he’s ready to get this house ready for our baby boy!

What I’m looking forward to: Getting back to Boot Camp!

Missing anything this week? My high energy. It has been an adjustment for both Tim and I to realize I don’t have the energy to do EVERYTHING anymore. Sometimes I feel defeated that I wasn’t able to do something as little as make a more elaborate dinner, put the laundry away, or simply go out for dinner. I know it will all balance out with time, but until then…we wait and be patient.

Best moment this week: I’ve really noticed the baby’s movements have been picking up and I can’t wait for Tim to finally be able to experience it too.

I can’t wait for another week to go by, it just means we are a week closer to meeting our little man!
