As another week passes, Tim and I can’t help but start to get more and more excited that in (about) 24 weeks we will be welcoming our sweet McBaby into this world. Everything is starting to feel a little bit more real and we both feel safe to shout from the roof tops that we’re having a baby!
Our McBaby appointment on Tuesday ended up only being a ‘listening’ appointment. I think we both were so blown away from our last appointment and getting to hear our baby’s heart beat for the first time that we totally spaced out when she said we weren’t going to have an ultrasound. Ooops! Regardless, hearing the heart beat again was just as great as the first time.
I know I will eventually sound like a broken record, but I absolutely love our Prenatal Team! They have been so accommodating by allowing us to come in for a few extra appointments to give us a peace of mind that everything is going well this pregnancy. They were even so gracious enough to squeeze us in on Dec. 22nd so we can try and determine McBaby’s gender. Tim and I both decided that we were going to have the ultrasound technician fill out a Gender Reveal Card (I got it off of Etsy: Gender Reveal Card Keepsake ) and wrap it for us to open on Christmas morning. I may have to wrap the envelope to prevent the both us from peeking!
Any guesses on what you think McBaby might be???
What fruit/vegetable are you? Avocado
Due date: May 20, 2016
How far along: 16 Weeks
Next appointment: December 22nd!
Total weight gain/loss: This week at my appointment I had to face the scale and I wasn’t too pleased with the results; I’m up 14 lbs. Tim and I are so lucky to have a wonderful midwife who clearly didn’t feel the need to lecture me about my weight gain; simply because she knows I try my hardest to lead an 80/20 lifestyle and have continued with my exercising. I KNOW I’m going to gain weight, but I just didn’t think it was going to come on so quickly. I constantly keep trying to remind myself that I’m doing the best I can and its okay to have that donut every once in a while.
Exercise: I got in some kind of activity every day this week. There are only 2 more boot camp classes left until the New Year and I’m having slight anxiety over it. Fingers crossed, I can still meet up with my boot camp girls 2x a week and get in a good sweat session!
Stretch Marks: Nothing new.
Swelling: None.
Maternity clothes: No new additions, but I’m happily rocking my maternity jeans!
Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases or Gifts: I’m trying to refrain from buying anything new simply because I know in a few week we will know the gender and I will probably go on a shopping spree then.
Sleep: I have been sleeping really well this week and I couldn’t be happier about it.
Food cravings: A warmed up corn muffin with butter, to be exact. No idea why, but the past few days that is all I can think about. I think I may need add a little more fat to my diet because clearly there is nothing but fat in a corn muffin with butter.
Food aversions: A few weeks ago all I could think about Blue Cheese Dressing and what can I put it on…this week the thought of it repulses me.
Symptoms: Real talk – pregnancy gas is NO joke. Add that to the terrible pregnancy brain – life in the McAuliffe household has gotten a little interesting.
How is dad doing? Dad was a little over protective again this week, but I kept reminding myself that is coming from a good place. I even amused him and googled; “will going to a concert make my baby deaf.”
What I’m looking forward to: Finding out if we are having a boy or girl in a few short weeks!
Missing anything this week? Running – the weather has been SO mild the past few days and I really wish I just had the energy to go out on those long runs. Also since its pitch black by the time I get home isn’t helping at all either. This weekend I’m going to try my hardest to get in a nice walk/run and try to enjoy the outdoors a little more. I know this weather isn’t going to last too much longer.
Best moment this week: Hearing our little avocado’s heart beat was at the top of the list this week. But, Tim and I got to go see The Get Up Kids and despite it being a work night, my feet and back killing me; it was nice to have a little date night and hear our wedding song be played. I couldn’t help but think about how far we’ve come since we got married two short years ago and now we are on our way to becoming parents.
Last Valentine’s Day, Tim commissioned the singer of The Get Up Kids to write us our very own song. We had just found out we were pregnant and this song was about us finally starting our family. Sadly, a few short weeks later we found out we had the miscarriage. So, this time around this song means that much more.
And a little side note before you listen to the song: a few Summers ago while we were kayaking down the Saco in North Conway we decide we needed alter-egos for the weekend. Now, it could have been the beer talking, but we came to the conclusion that we were now officially Dale and Connie!
We would love to hear everyone’s guesses on what they think McBaby’s gender is! So either leave us a comment below, find us on Instagram (@aaangelaa or @timcauliffe ), or leave us a comment on Facebook!
xo,
Angela
