Besides the week we got to see our baby on the ultrasound, this week has been the best week thus far. I was beginning to feel like a bump on a log and started to call myself ‘fat.’ Deep down inside I knew I wasn’t fat, or getting fat, I just felt fluffy. I’m finally starting to feel like myself again and getting back into to my fitness routine has really done wonders for my confidence.
This week was a big milestone for us; we finally got to hear our little McBaby’s heartbeat. Before we started, the doctor warned us that it may take a while for her to find the heartbeat and if they can’t find it, they will send me in for an ultrasound. Well, she placed the Doppler onto my stomach and found the heartbeat right away. Tim and I were both in shock that it was that easy. Our baby had a nice strong heartbeat of 150 bpm and at that moment we truly felt a huge weight lifted off our shoulders.
After suffering a loss once already, we were both very cautious going into this pregnancy. Hearing the heartbeat made it all real. This is REALLY happening to us. We are finally going to be parents.
What fruit/vegetable are you? Plum
Due date: May 20, 2016
How far along: 12 Weeks
Next appointment: December 8th
Total weight gain/loss: + 4 lbs. Over the past few days I have been feeling extra ‘fluffy’ and I’m trying to do my best to not let the number on the scale dictate how I feel.
Exercise: This week was a great week for exercising; between boot camp, going to the gym in my free time, and even getting in an enjoyable Sunday afternoon Run was exactly what I have been missing. I even made myself a ‘100 Miles By Christmas’ chalkboard to give myself some extra motivation to log in those miles.
Stretch marks: Nothing making their appearance yet!
Swelling: None.
Maternity clothes: Express was having a buy one get one 50% off sale so I went there to pick up a few shirts for work. I’m not quite ready for maternity clothes yet, but some of my clothes feel like they are getting a little snug in the chest area.
Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases or Gifts? Tim bought baby and me a little gift…

Sleep: I’m thankful that waking up at 4am and then driving 20 minutes to get my favorite coffee was short lived. I seem to be sleeping a little bit better and I think it’s because I have been exercising a lot more lately. Exercise truly is my saving grace.
Food cravings: Egg nog – Just HAD to have it this week.
Food aversions: I didn’t encounter any this week. I tried to keep everything lean, clean, and green.
Symptoms: Pregnancy brain kicked in this week. I feel like a complete ditz lately!
What I’m looking forward to: Our next appointment on December 8th!
Missing anything this week? No, I am completely content with everything this week. I couldn’t be happier with how everything is going.
How is dad doing? Dad is doing great! Hearing the heartbeat this week made this whole experience more real for him. The pregnancy cravings need to stop before he gets a baby bump before me, but he is keeping up with his running so I can’t ask for much more.
Best moment this week: Week 12 was a great week and really flew by. We started off the week with celebrating our little Frank’s First Birthday and then ended the week with hearing our McBaby’s heartbeat. It’s truly amazing how a little human is growing inside of me and we get to keep it and call it our own!
In the upcoming weeks, I’m hoping that I can really get my act together and start documenting my bump progress. I truly don’t want to miss one moment of this pregnancy!
Until next week!
